Witness WORLD'S END PRESS

Melbourne five-piece World’s End Press are back with a new 7” single ‘Witness’ and an exciting new show!

W.E.P will be launching their single at The Toff In Town on Saturday 29 November supported by two Melbourne gems: folk jam band Kes, and dramatic posters Plastic Palace Alice. Woo! More details on our TOUR page.

For the past few months World’s End Press have been bunkered down in their studio, recording new songs from which ‘Witness’ will be the first release. This single marks a new direction for W.E.P., taking influence from disco and house music, and combining that with their original art pop sound.

Uber congrats to Sydney electro-heroes Grafton Primary (pictured) whose EP Relativity has just been nominated for two AIR Awards: Best Australian Independent Single/EP, and Best Australian Independent Dance/Electronica Release! Of course, the band have now released their debut album Eon and are currently on a national album launch tour, presented by triple j.

British India, another Shiny band, have also been nominated for Best Australian Independent Album for their smashing second record Thieves. Yay them!

The 2008 Awards ceremony will be held at The Corner Hotel in Melbourne on Monday 24 November. Team Shiny plan to head along and get smashed in celebration... though maybe not as smashed as last year when British India took out the award for Best New Independent Artist 2007. That hurt.

   23 October 2008 : BRITISH INDIA
It Ain't No Fucking Disco for BRITISH INDIA

Recent UK deportees British India will embark on their final run of Australian shows for 2008, before taking a well deserved break. It’s been ‘no fucking disco’ for the lads who, on their first international trip were detained at Heathrow Airport for six hours after a 23-hour flight, before being sent home under armed guard and with an alcohol ban to boot. Their crime? The wrong visas.

Of course our heroes returned to the UK the following week to play their sold-out showcase in London and are now negotiating a UK release for their second album Thieves.

Beginning this weekend in NSW the aptly named ‘This Ain’t No Fucking Disco’ Tour runs nonstop from now until New Years Eve when the band draw the curtain for 2008 at the massive ‘Purple Sneakers’ NYE Party in Sydney. All show details are up on our TOUR page.

Catch the band live in action before they take a hard-earned break!
